The why...

I have been teaching for 45 years and am ready to step back from active teaching to fully immerse myself in the world of instructional design.

Instructional Design is not new to me. I have actually been dabbling in online instruction since 1990s when Blackboard was free (See blog post from another blog). Now it is one of the most expensive platforms available....but it was also the first.

I have experimented with everything from the original correspondence-type approach to online learning to using animated learning agents to measure empathy and helping skills to digital storytelling to gamification to micro-credentialing....and have truly enjoyed this journey....AND the learning on my end that happened as I experimented.

My teaching journey has taken me from K-12 English to fully online grad courses in Leadership AND in Online Teaching and Instructional Design. I have even worked with doctoral students online.

Now, I would like to share what I have learned about instruction design.

Please join me for this new ride!
